Jeff White Jr. To Start Career In Massachusetts

Jeff White Jr.

Jeff White Jr. has decided to attend Cambridge Rindge Of Latin School in Massachusetts. The former New Jersey resident starred on the Spotlight circuit with T Town Ballers and Joyce Kilmer Middle School. He also should be a nice addition to the Team Spartan AAU Team. 

Basketball Spotlight would like to congratulate Jeff and his family on selecting Cambridge Rindge Of Latin School. Stay tuned as we bring you more of the top players in the region and the high schools they will be attending.

The Top 30 Power Forwards to ever come through Basketball Spotlight Events are listed below. The list was comprised based on the dominance and impact of the player during that event or events. If we forget a prospect that is too glaring then they will be added. This was a fun experience and should be looked at as such. The players are listed by AAU Team, College and NBA team which drafted them or who they are currently affiliated with. 

Basketball Spotlight Top 30 Power Forwards Of All Time 

1. Marvin Bagley- (WACG), (Duke), (Sacramento Kings)- Bagley just proved to be on another level at the AC Showcase. His athleticism, scoring prowess and defensive dominance separated him from his peers. Anyone that saw his performance at America’s Playground would agree with this selection for #1.



2. Karl Towns- (Team NJ ABC), (Kentucky), (Minnesota Timberwolves)- Towns played up most of his Spotlight career but showed he was different during the J.E.M. All Star Classic. His ability to score from all three levels and do it with ease could not be overlooked.
3. Naz Reid- (Sports U), (LSU), (Minnesota Timberwolves)- Reid has been a star on the Spotlight circuit since suiting up for KSK. After the he soared into national prominence with a unique skillset and explosive finishes at the basket. He was the inside force on the famed Supreme Team.
4. Harry Giles- (Team Felton), (Duke), (Sacramento Kings)- The AC Showcase proved the national launch for Harry Giles. He stepped onto the floor as a 7th Grader and just dominated the tournament for Team Felton. He was a scoring and shot blocking machine while also showing he could handle the pill.
5. Stephen Zimmerman- (Cali Styles), (UNLV), (Orlando Magic)-Zimmerman came to the Spotlight with the loaded West Coast squad and went right to work. His footwork, touch and range made him an immediate standout. He was a total problem on the blocks on both ends of the floor.
6. Amile Jefferson- (Team Philly), (Duke)- Jefferson was the main man for this Philly Team. He was a best on the glass while slicing and scoring along the baseline. The opponents knew he was getting the rock and still couldn’t stop him.
7. Jalen Duren- (Team Final), (HS)- Duren first showed total dominance at the Spotlight Future Phenom Camp. He was like a man amongst boys in the paint. He had power and precision on the offensive end while cleaning the glass and rebounding hard down the other end. He went on to continue this dominance with Team Final.
8. Terrence Williams- (Team Takeover), (Michigan)- Williams’s last season on the Spotlight circuit was unfair for the opposition. He was a walking double-double while showing the ability to score inside and facing the cup. He seemed to have the right combination of size, strength and scoring touch.
9. Leroy Butts- (Future Players), (Rutgers)-This lefty was a total problem, he too quick for post players and too big for small forwards. Butts long arms allowed him for finish over the competition, block shots and control the boards.
10. Rondae Jefferson- (Team Nelson), (Arizona), (Brooklyn Nets)- Jefferson represented Chester to the fullest with his toughness and finishing ability. He scored in bunches and defended multiple positions.
11. Moussa Cisse- (NY Rens), (Memphis)- Surprised? Shouldn’t be! When Cisse entered the gym with the loaded NY Rens his name sent shockwaves through the gym. His thunderous dunks and massive blocked shots proved to be an ultimate force.
12. Joe Hampton- (DC Assault), (Penn State)- Not your average Joe was the inside force for “The MOBB”. Once he got his feet planted inside it was curtains for the opposition. He had power, feathery touch and unique footwork.
13. Balsa Koprivaca- (Team Florida), (Florida State)- A middle school legend, Balsa hit the AC Showcase with Team Florida and showed he was one of the most versatile players in America. Standing 6’11 he showed promise inside and deep range from the perimeter.
14. Trevaughn Wilkerson- (Team Final), (Hartford)- 5th, 6th and 7th Grade Wilkerson dominated the post on the Spotlight circuit. He was an inside scoring force and rebounding machine. He took home POY honors during his tenure.
15. Isaiah Todd- (Terror Squad), (NBA G League)- Todd anchored one of the most talented teams in Spotlight history. The wiry forward scored, block shots and finished with the best of them. He had stardom written all over him.

Basketball Spotlight Top 30 Small Forwards Of All Time 

1. Scottie Lewis- (Team Rio) (Florida): Lewis jumped unto the Spotlight scene as a 7th Grader and became an instant star. The box office attraction above the rim prowess and effectiveness on the other end of the floor had the high school AAU directors coming out in droves. He was definitely worth the price of admissions.

2. Mike Kidd Gilchrist- (RBK All Stars), (Kentucky), (Charlotte Hornets): Gilchrist stepped into the Spotlight as a 7th Grader in the Clash For The Cup and continued the next year at the MDC playing with RBK All Stars. He became arguably the top player in the country while leading them to an AAU final four.

3. Trey Patterson- (Sports U and IZOD), (HS): Trey carried the target of being the top player in his class since entering Basketball Spotlight as a 4th Grader. The big wing combines size with a unique skillset. He faced many head to head challenges and proved to be victorious.

 
4. Elijah Fisher- (Can Grassroots), (HS): Fisher names range bells since we walked into a Spotlight event. The high flying forward southpaw packed size, power and athleticism. He shined bright with every eye on the gym on him.

5. Donte Scott- (Team Nelson), (Maryland): Team Nelson went on a serious championship run during their Spotlight years and Scott was a lead catalyst. He could get his shot off against anyone and had the size to be a matchup problem. This kid was a joy to watch.

 
6. Fuquan Edwin- (Playaz), (Seton Hall): During his middle school years Edwin scored like we breath. The lanky forward filled the lanes and finished off plays like a young James Worthy. He also will stick his head inside and help out on the glass. He starred in the Clash For The Cup and Grand Finale.

7. Antonio Sellers- (NY Gauchos), (HS): In 7th and 8th Grade Sellers separated himself from the competition. The versatile wing passed, scored and got anyway he wanted on the floor at his pace.

 
8. Jarace Walker- (Team Thrill), (HS): Walker came through with Team Thrill and instantly took over the tournament. His frame and skillset were too much for the opposition. He was able to get things done from all three levels.

9. Akil Watson- (ECE) (HS): Watson’s potential started becoming production in 7th Grade and he was a problem since then. The long wing cut through the defense for buckets and also gave them a taste of his long range prowess.

10. Emoni Bates- (Bates Fundamentals), (HS): Once Bates got accustomed to the East Coast speed he proceeded to go at work at the Future Phenom Camp. His length combined with guard skills made it hard for him to be contained.

11. Jayon James-(Playaz), (Fordham): James was one of the most versatile players to come through the Spotlight. He was listed as a small forward but had point guard instincts. He was a stat stuffer to the fullest.
12. Justin Jackson- (YAACE), (Maryland): Jackson was one of our first big stars from Canada. He had the size but also knew how to attack and finish off the bounce. He finished over smaller defenders and helped out on the glass.

 
13. Jermaine Samuels- (CBC), (Villanova): Samuels pushed through like a freight train and finished with the best of them. He showed above the rim prowess. A lot of defenders hated to see Samuels coming.

14. Chris Baldwin- (Expressions), (UMass): Baldwin represented for the X to the fullest. He gave opponents fits with his size and ability to score the rock. Chris had a crazy buzz leaving middle school.

 
15. Armani Sexton- (Playaz),:“The Live Wire” was difficult to handle especially going full speed ahead. He had shifty moves and good bounce when finishing. Sexton was a joy to watch! RIP “Live Wire”.

Basketball Spotlight Top 30 Shooting Guards Of All Time 

1. Tyus Battle (Team Battle), (Syracuse), (Minnesota Timberwolves)- Battle became of face of Basketball Spotlight after his 4th grade arrival. This presented a huge target on his back but it didn’t stop him from showing dominance while collecting championships and MVP trophies. Entering 6th Grade Battle has become a national name. His dominance goes without saying.

2. Dion Waiters (Philly Ball Hawks, Playaz), (Syracuse), (Cleveland Cavaliers)- Waiters stole the show at the Basketball Spotlight MDC, Clash For The Cup and Grand Finale. He set the then Spotlight scoring with 42 points at the MDC and totally dominated the Grand Finale with the Playaz Basketball Club.


3. Isaiah Whitehead (Juice All Stars), (Seton Hall)- Whitehead was huge on the Spotlight scene his 7th and 8th Grade year. His size had him difficult to guard and he scored in abundance. He led Juice to Team Of The Year honors and finished as the #1 ranked player on our regional list.


4. Terrence Clarke (Expressions), (Kentucky)- Clarke took his game to the next level during his 8th Grade season. He packed smoothness with a scoring punch. I loved his mean stroke and scoring prowess from all three levels.




5. Bryan Antoine (Team Rio), (Villanova)- Scottie Lewis arrival turned on a switch in Antoine’s approach. The tools were there but then the smooth guard turned into an assassin. He displayed a mean ratchet and supreme athleticism.




6. Nate Pierre Louis (Sports U), (Temple)- Pierre Louis was wire to score ever since he stepped foot into Basketball Spotlight. The lefty scorched many teams and topped the 30 point mark on numerous occasions. He also was a proven winner.



7. Cam Reddish (Team Final), (Duke), (Atlanta Hawks)- “The Prince” was a difficult matchup for those who defended him. His buttery jump shot was a thing of beauty. Despite the wins and losses his numbers were great.



8. PJ Dozier (Columbia Slammers), (South Carolina), (Denver Nuggets)- Dozier’s arrival sent shock waves through Hoop Group Headquarters. The hype was there and the youngster delivered with silky moves and deep bombs.




9. Tyler Dorsey (Cali Styles), (Oregon), (Atlanta Hawks)- Dorsey showed total dominance when he came to the Clash For The Cup with a loaded West Coast squad. His skill set combined with his grit was too much for the opposition.


10. Kerwin Okoro (Long Island Lightning), (Rutgers University)- Okoro was a scoring machine with the two time national champs. He had the frame and the game to get anywhere he wanted on the floor and produce results.



11. Shakur Edwards (NJ Panthers), (Elite 80 Expo)- It’s no doubt is Edwards played at a few more events he would have been higher on this list. The two guard was a little raw but an outstanding scorer and play maker. He had some of the natural instincts that can’t be taught.




12. Malachi Richardson (Gauchos, Team Final), (Syracuse), (Sacramento Kings)- Richardson was one of the best shooters to every come through Basketball Spotlight. He starred during his Gauchos and capped it off with Team Final success.

13. Kahari Beauford (Boston Spartans), (Tennessee Martin)- Beauford performance at the AC Showcase goes down in Spotlight history. His 50-point outing against Team NJ ABC was something to watch.

14. Devin Coleman (RBK All Stars), (Temple)- The lefty was the leading scorer on this loaded squad. The southpaw got buckets against some of the top teams in the country. He also starred in the Basketball Spotlight Clash For The Cup and MDC.

15. Mohammad Aminu (Dynamic Disciples), (HS)- Aminu came through and totally shined with this DMV bunch. He was relentless from start to finish and was compared to Dwayne Wade. He’s tough on both sides of ball

Basketball Spotlight Top 30 Combo Guards Of All Time 

 1. Cole Anthony (NY Rens), (North Carolina)- Cole was one of the most ferocious guards to come through the Spotlight. He attacked relentlessly and scored from all three levels. He also gave a 100% on the defensive end. He took home Most Outstanding Award honors.

2. Donovan Mitchell (The City), (Louisville), (Utah Jazz)- Mitchell was the go to guy for The City and showed more ability as his confidence progressed. His size and skill set caused serious matchup problems for the opposition. He helped introduce "The City" to the Spotlight world.

3. Lamarr Kimble (Team Final), (St. Joseph)-“Freshie” took over the reigns on TF after his first season and took off. The combo guard scored at will when possible and took home POY Honors during his tenure. Kimble was a force for several years.

4. Temple Gibbs (Team Scan), (Notre Dame)- Gibbs was a total problem his 8th Grade year from TS. His swagger was through the roof at this time and he used his strength to carry defenders to the hoop. He was awarded POY at the end of that season.


5. Shep Garner (Youth Interlock), (Penn State)- Garner was a winner and top-notch competitor. I still haven’t seen a middle school player that displayed his type of focus on the floor. Garner will go down as a Spotlight legend.


6. Jamir Harris (Team Battle), (Minnesota)-“The Terminator” also put together a historic 8th Grade season for the NJ Playaz. His quick trigger and range made him difficult to guard. Once he caught fire it was a problem for the opposition.



7. Rakym Felder (New Heights), (South Carolina)-“The Bully” became a Spotlight legend after a stellar 6th Grade year where he took home POY honors. The lefty could get big buckets against just about anyone. His performance against DC Assault at the AAU Nationals is one of the best I ever saw.

8. Jaden Springer (WACG), (Tennessee)- Springer starred at the AC Showcase and was MVP of the Future Phenom Camp. Springer was highly touted coming in but played like an unranked stud. He scored relentlessly and also was capable of making the right plays.

9. DJ Wagner (Team Final), (HS)- Wagner finished as our #1 player in the region and with good reason. DJ showed the ability to score but also the poise and court vision to run a team. He’s from basketball royalty and should have a great future.

10. Eric Ayala (We R 1), (Maryland)- Ayala played the game at his own pace but it didn’t stop him from dominating. He carried Delaware Royalty and later We R 1 throughout the Spotlight circuit. He put the 1st State on the map in terms of Basketball Spotlight.

11. Keith Williams (New Heights), (Cincinnati)-Williams was an instant high-octane guard. He took his New Heights team to another level. He was able to be a dominant force on both ends of the floor and lead them to a Grand Finale. He also was awarded Mr. Memorial Day.

12. Zion Cruz (Hilltoppers Heat), (HS)- Cruz had his biggest smash during his 7th Grade season when he showed total dominance. His athleticism was off the charts and he displayed a tight skill set. Cruz gave us a ton of highlights.

13. James Bishop (Team Thrill), (LSU)- This DMV stud was a sure-fire bucket getter. The southpaw could fill it up at the drop of a dime. He seemed to be licensed to score whenever we wanted. He was a total joy to watch during his Spotlight days.

14. Devonte Green (Team Scan), (Indiana)- Green was able to be a great bucket getter for this loaded Team Scan crew. Green displayed some athleticism combined with a sound foundation of fundamentals.

15. Bryant Crawford (Team Takeover), (Wake Forest)- The big guard controlled the tempo and scored when necessary. He was one of first top players from this TTO program when they entered the Spotlight world.

16. Chaylyn Martin (CBC), (Sacred Heart) 

17. Jonathan Severe (Long Island Lightning), (Iona) 

18. NyRhique Smith (NJ Playaz)

Basketball Spotlight Top 30 Point Guards Of All Time 

1. Kyle Anderson Jr. (Long Island Lightning), (UCLA), (Memphis Grizzles)- It’s hard not to be #1 when you lead your team to two AAU National titles and a bunch of other championships including a Spotlight MDC crown. Anderson Jr. was the Magic Johnson type of his middle school era. It would be hard to find another player that has the winning percentage to match this kid. He took home POY honors.

2. Isaiah Briscoe (Team Scan), (Kentucky), (Orlando Magic)- No player in recent history had a celebrated 8th Grade season close to Briscoe’s. He literally changed the game with his dominance on the floor. He gave Team Scan heavy middle school recognition and garnered high major offers from top schools. He made reclassifying the new weapon from prospects.

3. Jaecee Martin (CBC), (Sacred Heart)- When you have the nickname “Mayweather” you had to be great and this guard was. He dominated his age group for a few years while helping his squad become one of the most talked about teams in the country.

4. Zion Harmon (Team Glory), (HS)- From 3rd Grade to 8th Grade Harmon was the best guard on his level. His mature mindset allowed him to play up with ease and lead several teams to championships. “The Lion” was also one of the winningest floor generals in Spotlight history.

5. Jahvon Quinerly (Sports U), (Alabama)- Quinerly hit when of the biggest shots in Spotlight history while also totally dominating the opposition during his 8th Grade year. Quinerly’s savviness and play making ability stood out.

6. AJ Hoggard (Team Final), (Michigan State)- Hoggard went end to end as one of the best point guards in the country. His last season with Team Final proved that his dominance was on another level. His journey from McBuckets to Blue Magic was a total joy to watch.



7. Jaden Bradley (GC Ballers), (HS)- 2 Time Future Phenom Camp MVP also stole the show down at the AC Showcase. Bradley followed Jaden Springer’s lead putting NC on the Spotlight map. This guard was something special to watch.

8. Tremont Waters (Connecticut Elite) (LSU), (Boston Celtics)- Many compared his play to CP3 when they saw him handle the pill. Waters had the ability to make defenders vanish while getting where he wanted on the floor. Tremont was special.

 
9. Marcus Lovett (Cali Styles), (St. Johns)- Lovett came to the Spotlight in a blur with that loaded Cali Styles. While competing against a few on this list he was quicker and more explosive during the Clash For The Cup. He was something to watch.

10. Marcus Floyd (Philly Aztecs), (Maine)- Floyd was a straight killer. He came in underrated and then took over the landscape. He dazzled crowds during the Spotlight events while also quarterbacking the Aztecs to the AAU Final Four.

11. Alani Moore (DC Assault), (Temple)- “Showtime” was a natural born winner and he proved it stepping on the floor with DC Assault. He got into the lane whenever he wanted, dished the rock and scored in traffic. He was a joy to watch.

12. Bryce Aiken (Team Scan), (Harvard)-“Capo” did his damage will leading KYDA and Team Scan to prominence. He knew how to run a team and takeover the game when needed. He was a coach’s dream at that age.

13. Anthony Cowan (Dc Assault), (Maryland)- “Mister” Cowan was a Spotlight legend. He played apart from Moore on the other DC Assault team before joining forces. Cowan was as tough as they come in terms of play making, competing and winning.

14. Atiba Taylor Jr. (Sports U), (Wagner)- Taylor was the floor general that led KSK before he moved to the Supreme Team. The southpaw was in charge of making sure Nazi Reid and Luther Muhammad ate. He was responsible for winning a few banners.

15. Darius Garland (WACG), (Vanderbilt), (Cleveland Cavaliers)- Garland put on a show at the AC Showcase. He dazzled the crowd with a crazy handle and long-range bombs. Garland’s swagger was always through the roof.

Basketball Spotlight has returned with the Super Showcase. This event will bring together the top 6th, 7th and 8th Graders in the region. Players will be separated by grade and do battle in two games will equal substitution in front of Basketball Spotlight scouts and camera men. We will take Covid-19 precautions concerning play and scheduling.

The Basketball Spotlight Tournament Series was amazing this year. It’s now time for us to release our end of the season awards. We would like to thank everyone for their participation and we look forward to seeing you guys next season. Let’s begin with the players that competed on the 8th Grade level. 

2019-20 8th Grade Postseason Awards Winners 
Team Of The Year: Team Final This talented bunch left no doubt as they ran through the Tip Off Classic and Clash For The Cup. They possessed the correct amount of talent combined with the toughness and coaching to get things done. They fought off some good competition to get the two crowns. They earned the Team Of The Year Honors.

Coach Of The Year: Nate Hodge (Team Final)- Hodge did a great job of managing talent and purpose with this bunch. He had the players attention and they would go through a wall for him. I seen him develop his coaching skills in Team Final for years and he has a bright future ahead of him.

Most Outstanding Player: Ahmad Nowell (Team Final)-Nowell waited for the Spotlight circuit to shine but wasted no time as he led Team Final to Championships in both the Tip Off Classic and Clash For The Cup. The powerful guard displayed scoring, play making and the ability to lead the team. He flat put gets it done.

Most Improved Player: Kabrien Goss (T Town Ballers)- Goss snatched the MVP Award at the Slam Dunk Breast Cancer. He went on the numerous middle school events with Foundation Academy while also helping T Town Ballers win the Clash For The Cup Championships (Blue Division MVP).

Playmaker Of The Year Award: Elliot Cadeau (Long Island Lightning)- Cadeau put on show during the Tip Off Classic and the Spring Invitational. Elliot’s handle is legit and explosive. He displays top notch court vision and the ability to vision in traffic or above the rim. It would be tough to argue his presence on the court.

Defensive Player Of The Year: Nahkeem Singleton (Team Spartans)- Singleton used his frame to clog the lane, block shots and hammer the glass for rebounds. He anchored the pesky Spartans defense which many teams had to respect.

Prospect Of The Year: Nassir Cunningham (NJ Scholar Elite)- Cunningham is a high-level prospect that can do about anything on the court. Standing at 6’6 he has a pretty stroke from three and is playing above the rim. He is very long and athletic which helps him on both ends of the court.
